England Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is still working through the extent of his role will be during the forthcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former New Zealand pace bowler is only likely to be available for the first Test because of his participation in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, aged 36, took up a position as England's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Commenting as England's team for the first of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was announced, he stated of his availability: "We're still working through that at the moment.
"We'll see the outcome over the coming days."
English bowling legend Broad had declared the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which starts on 21 November.
"In my view there's ever a poor Aussie side," Southee remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [England's] side that's heading out to Australia is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, before England travel to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
