Manchester Synagogue Attack: A Casualty Appears to Have Been Fired Upon by Police
During a tragic turn of events, a victims lost at the Heaton Park synagogue assault is believed to have been fatally wounded by law enforcement personnel.
Official Statement Reveals Firearm Injury
The senior officer from the local force announced that a forensic expert has initially concluded the man succumbed to a gunshot wound.
“We sought guidance overnight from forensic specialists ahead of detailed autopsies scheduled for this afternoon. The Home Office pathologist has advised that he has provisionally determined one of the deceased victims would appear to have suffered a injury matching a gunshot injury.”
Suspect Details
The suspect, a 35-year-old individual, was not carrying a gun, and all discharged rounds were by the police officers at the scene.
It is believed the victim was part of the group positioned at the entrance seeking to prevent the attacker from gaining entry.
Consequences of Police Action
“It follows therefore that subject to further forensic examination, the wound was unfortunately incurred as a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the necessary rapid response employed by my officers to bring this vicious attack to an end.”
Names Released
The two victims who lost their lives during the synagogue incident in north Manchester earlier this week were identified as 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz, 66 years old.
The men were killed when a car was used to ram into the grounds of the local Jewish place of worship, before the attacker targeted attendees in a brief violent spree that ended only when police with firearms shot at him twice, killing him at the door of the temple.
Additional Injuries
Three others were seriously injured in the attack on Yom Kippur, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish calendar.
Watson said, “We have also been advised that another injured person currently receiving treatment sustained a firearm injury, which is fortunately non-fatal. It is believed both victims were near each other at the entrance, as attendees showed courage to stop the assailant from getting inside.”

“We extend our condolences are directed toward all of the families, and broader public, touched by these events in the region and elsewhere. Trained personnel are providing support and assistance for everyone involved, including our brave first responders.”
Attacker Profile
Police named the attacker as the individual, thirty-five, a UK national of Syrian origin.
Local law enforcement said that three other people – two male suspects and an older female – had been detained “for alleged commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism”.
