The Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial Fall Classic after the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for this squad, our city, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."

Springer has now connected for 23 playoff homers, ranking him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" in the wake of his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we finished on the wrong side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays won the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
