The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with using the total value of immobilized Russia's assets to aid Ukraine's war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the officials of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They added that the initiative would be implemented in strong partnership with the America.

British sanctions have frozen more than £25bn of Russian resources since Russia initiated its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, up to this point, resources provided to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had solely been drawn from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to advance efforts toward using the complete amount of the immobilized Russia's state funds to end the war.

He added that more sanctions over the next period would increase the strain on Russia.

This announcement is subsequent to EU officials met in Copenhagen last week to consider employing frozen Russian funds for a €140 billion credit to Ukraine.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to seize or otherwise use immobilized Russian holdings, according to news outlets.

The worth of immobilized Russia's holdings in the European Union is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

President Zelensky calls on Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to take part in the PURL initiative

Russia executed large-scale bombardments across Ukraine on that day, causing power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and eight other regions.

Several persons were fatally injured and at least 20 people were injured in the attack, Ukrainian officials stated.

In a post on social media after the attack, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What is required is not just talk but firm measures - from the United States, the European Union, and the G7 - in delivering defense mechanisms and enforcing sanctions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions weakens Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky informed reporters he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the PURL programme, under which partner nations buy military equipment from the US to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the Britain's strong support for Ukraine, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the initiative, as well as impose additional sanctions on the Russian Federation.
