Three Lions Squad Revealed: Bellingham and Foden Left Out, Saka Returns

The England manager has chosen to retain the same Three Lions selection that triumphed against their previous opponents and produced a stellar display in Serbia last month, leaving no room for the Real Madrid star and the Manchester City attacker in his selection for the forthcoming exhibition match against the Welsh side and the qualifying match in the Baltic nation.

Despite Foden making a strong case for a recall after regaining his top condition at Manchester City, and Jude Bellingham having returned for Real Madrid following shoulder surgery, the head coach has decided against selecting two of the country's most prominent offensive stars. Bellingham has started only once for his club since his comeback.

Tuchel has made room for the Arsenal winger, who is back to fitness and has been restored in place of his unavailable Arsenal teammate the sidelined player. The experienced attacker has not been handed a return to the squad.

Tuchel highlighted the energy in the previous selection and seems intent on maintaining the vibe. Tino Livramento, who started at left-back in the convincing victory in Belgrade, has dropped out due to a knock. Tuchel has opted against selecting a direct replacement for the Magpies star but has selected John Stones, who had to withdraw last month. He has spoken about the centre-back's significance for the national team and has floated the idea of using him in midfield.

There is no place for Adam Wharton, who was called up last month but withdrew due to injury and was substituted by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Tuchel said: “A mere three weeks since the previous gathering and the most recent victory, the last performance, so the question was why not bring the identical squad in because they set the standard. Now it is about building routines out of it. We have unfortunately two injuries at the moment with Tino and Madueke and we bring of course the Arsenal forward in to replace Madueke. The defender was a late call-up last time; he will remain with the squad.”
